Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is the electronic transfer of business documents from one computer application to another, without human intervention.

EDI involves doing business and carrying out transactions with trading partners (customers) electronically. EDI provides a way to automate business processes that use paper based communications.

Covidien adheres to the ANSI X12 EDI standards. Customers will need EDI translation software to facilitate doing EDI with Covidien.
